The tour operator will decide whether the Volcano Tour will be run at Arenal 1968 or the Arenal Volcano National Park.
This Combo Tour will allow you to see two important highlights of the La Fortuna Arenal Volcano area in one day!
Want to spend a fun day doing a hike through nature and enjoy two of the most popular attractions in the area? Check out this Mini Combo Tour where you’ll get to take a leisurely nature walk in a reserve near the Arenal National Park, one of the closest places you’ll get to the Arenal Volcano, go have an incredible lunch right next to the El Salto Swimming Hole and Waterfall and then experience the La Fortuna Waterfall.
The Arenal National Park is one of the most visited parks in all of Central America. The trails are generally flat and not very strenuous — perfect for a leisurely and informative hike with one of our naturalist guides! We’ll head through the jungle, hiking through well-groomed, easy trails that skirt the base of the Arenal Volcano. Your eagle-eyed naturalist guide will point out different species of flora and fauna and teach you about Costa Rica’s nature, culture and history, including information about the volcanic explosion of 1968! This area was devastated by the lava flow and has since re-grown into a lush forest with great biodiversity. When you reach both of the observation platforms you will see magnificent views of the impressive Arenal Volcano, the pristine Lake Arenal, and the extinct volcano Cerro Chato! This is the closest you can get to the base of the Arenal Volcano and the perfect vantage point to take remarkable photos!
After your adventure at the National Park, you will go to lunch at the El Salto Hunters & Gatherers restaurant for a full all-you-can-eat buffet. Then head to the La Fortuna Waterfall! When you reach the entrance, you will have time to change into your bathing suit in case you want to cool off under the waterfall. This is sure to be a good workout as there are over 300 steps to get down to the waterfall, and over 300 to get back up! When you reach the bottom, you’ll have an opportunity to take lots of pictures and swim in the cool waters of one of the largest and most breathtaking waterfalls in Arenal and then head back to your hotel.
