Unfortunately, yes. 🙁 The Springs Resort will be closed to the public between December 17th, 2021, and January 8th, 2022, so unfortunately no tour operator (or the resort directly) will be able to provide hot springs passes or reservations for Club Rio during those days. The only people who will be able to access the resort’s facilities will be overnight guests.

Thank you for your interest in our discounts! I can certainly answer your questions for you. 🙂
1. We don’t have a cancelation policy of our own, we simply enforce the cancelation policies of the individual tour operators. So, the cancelation policies that will apply will depend on the exact tours you want to experience, and which tour operators run those tours. Since you’re currently considering tours run by Sky Adventures and Desafio Adventure Company, please see these links (for Sky Adventures and Desafio Adventure Company).
2. We count discounts by tour/activity, not traveler type. So, if a group of 4 people (2 adults and 2 children) want to do the Balsa River Rafting Tour, we’d count this as 1 tour discount, even though technically the adult discounts and the child discounts are entered separately on an order. Also, when activities are grouped together as combos (as is the case for the Sky Trek, Sky Walk, and Sky Tram Combo), we count these as 1 tour discount. So, in your case, both adults and both children (4 people in total) can do the Sky Trek, Sky Walk, and Sky Tram Combo, and the entire experience will be counted as one discount.
3. Some tour operators provide complimentary transportation and some do not. Desafio Adventure Company is a tour operator that does, so transportation to/from Casa Luna would be free! Sky Adventures is a tour operator that does not (they charge $17+tax/person if you want to add round-trip transportation to any one of their tours). You’ll see this optional charge noted on the tour listing page as the “Transportation Add-On.”
4. No problem! Our memberships are entirely flexible. So, start with the level you feel would be best for now, and we can upgrade or downgrade your membership from there. Once you submit an order, all of our correspondence will be handled via private email (as opposed to this public forum), so you can simply tell us you’d like to upgrade or downgrade your membership, and we’ll make that happen. If it’s an upgrade, we’ll send you a PayPal invoice for the added expense. If it’s a downgrade, we’ll refund the difference in price between the membership you purchased and the membership you need instantly via PayPal.
5. Processing times vary by operator. Some respond to our requests within a few hours and others respond within a few days. So long as an order for discounts is placed at least 10 days prior to the requested tour date (this is our policy), we’ll be able to get the discounts processed for you in time.

No problem! The date is greyed out because (as you mentioned) it’s within the next 10 days, but you can simply write in the date (instead of using the little calendar to select a date). Or, if you’d prefer, you can pick a random date on the calendar, and then note the correct tour date in the special notes section on the checkout page. 🙂

This particular discount takes longer to process (sometimes around 3-5 days), so it will take us a little longer to get back to you about it, but we should be able to process it for you if an order is placed through our website by the end of the day today.
As a heads up, the second (free) day of the hot springs pass may not apply in your case because beginning on December 17th, the resort will be closed to the public. If you don’t plan to re-visit the resort on the second day, though (I caught in your other forum post that you are thinking about doing the Arenal Highlights Tour on the 17th), you can still plan to visit the resort for the full day on December 16th.

Also, transportation from San Jose to La Fortuna is free provided you’re staying at a hotel or hostel in San Jose and a hotel or hostel in La Fortuna. Airbnbs and rental homes, as well as hotels/hostels on the outskirts of town, don’t typically qualify for the tour operator’s complimentary transportation. If you’re not sure, feel free to submit the names of both hotels (i.e., where you plan to stay in San Jose and La Fortuna) with the order and I can let you know if the tour operator will charge extra to/from either.

To answer your two questions: Yes, and yes! For entering a La Fortuna hotel as the drop-off location, please be sure to add this request to the special notes section on the checkout page.
The only problem we’ll run into with your request, is the timing. We typically require 10 days’ notice for all discount orders, and December 14th is 7 days away. If you’re able to submit the order for the rafting tour discount through our website by the end of the day today, we can put a rush on processing the order to get it in on time.

You’re correct: When you place an order through our website for one of our tour discounts, the tour operator will provide a confirmation for the booking they create for you in their system. Also, you’ll pay the tour operator directly for the tour (we don’t collect payments for tours). The advantage is, by placing an order through our website for our tour discount, you’ll pay the tour operator our discounted rate for their tour as opposed to their original rate for their tour.
Also, to confirm, all correspondence is handled through email (as opposed to the phone) to ensure there’s a written record of all requests. 🙂
For the La Paz Waterfall Gardens, unfortunately, we don’t have any discounts for that property at the current time.

Thanks so much for letting us know it is Sky Adventures’s tour that you’re considering. Unfortunately, transportation won’t be complimentary in this case, but that’s not specific to the Trapp Family Lodge, it’s because Sky Adventures is a tour operator that doesn’t provide complimentary transportation with any of their tours. They can offer round-trip transportation for an extra fee, though ($10/person plus tax). You’ll see this extra charge noted as the “Transportation Option” on the Monteverde Sky Trek Canopy Tour’s listing page on our site. If you’ll have a rental car and would prefer to drive yourselves to Sky Adventures’s Monteverde Park, or if you would prefer to take a taxi or arrange other transportation, you certainly can. Sky Adventures’s transportation fee is entirely optional.
