Our memberships are calculated per tour, per person, regardless of the age/category of that person (i.e., adult, student, or child). So, in order to determine the membership level needed to access the two tour discounts you’d like, we’ll just need to know the number of people that want to participate in each tour.

For example, if your travel group is comprised of 1 adult and 1 child, and both of those people would like to experience a total of 2 tours, you’d need a Discount Level 3 membership in that case (that membership is good for a total of 2 tour discounts for 1-2 people in total). If your travel group is comprised of 2 or 3 adults and 1 child, and all three/four of those people would like to experience a total of 2 tours, you’d need a Discount Level 7 membership in that case (that membership is good for a total of 2 tour discounts for 3-4 people in total). To clarify, what matters most is the total number of people who want to access the discounts, not the age/category of each person. 🙂

When different quantities of people want to experience different tours (i.e., if 2 people want to experience one tour and 3 people want to experience a different tour), calculations for that can get a bit tricky, but I can let you know what the cost of the membership would be in that custom case.

Inc., our blog (the Costa Rica Travel Blog), our online community (DIY Costa Rica), researching and updating our guidebooks for Moon Travel Guides, and providing private consultations to Costa Rica travelers (appointments for those can be booked through https://nikkisolano.com/). These projects leave us with little time to monitor and/or post on our social media pages, but rest assured, we’re still very active. Next month, we enter our 18th year of operations. 🙂

Thanks so much for your interest in our discounts! Unfortunately, we’re unable to accept same-day discount requests. 🙁 Normally, we require 10 days’ notice to process discount requests, but we can sometimes get that timeline down by a few days depending on the specific discount requested. For the Mistico Park, at this time of year, we’d need a minimum of 6 days’ notice to process an order for discounts for their park.

Thanks so much for your interest in our discounts! There’s a lot of different elements at play here, but I can explain all of them to help you understand our operation and the resort’s response. 🙂

The resort is correct in that they won’t honor 3rd party rates. What they mean by that is that they won’t allow you to make a reservation directly through them at our discounted rate. In order to access our discounted rate, you need to be a Pura Vida! eh? member and submit the request for the hot springs pass through our website, not through the resort directly.

When they mention that the rate isn’t for December 31st, they’re correct in saying that, too. As noted on the hot springs pass’s listing page on our website, we aren’t able to book hot springs passes for visits between December 16th, 2023, and January 3rd, 2024, so a booking on December 31st wouldn’t be possible.

With respect to whether our rates work, they absolutely do! We’ve worked with the Springs Resort for roughly 15 years, having been one of the first groups of people invited to visit their property when they opened in 2008. That said, due to the blackout period between December 16th and January 3rd, and due to the fact that we require 10 days’ notice to process any discount order, unfortunately we won’t be able to provide you with a discount for a visit in three days’ time, on December 31st.
