        Hi there!
I’ve been reading through your blog, gathering ideas for our honeymoon early next year.
I’ve finally gotten to the activities discount portion and trying to decide how to proceed.

When adding a discount to the cart, it asks for date/time details of the selected tour.

Will you be booking these tours directly, through the company, for us? Does this consitute as confirmed bookings?
Or is it a formality, and after my purchase I will go book my tours on their websites?

          Hi Julia!

My apologies for the delay in getting back to you! We’re currently in the middle of the busiest two weeks of the year for Costa Rica travel, so our response time is slower than usual. Thank you so much for your patience with us! 🙂

Congrats on selecting Costa Rica for your upcoming honeymoon! I’m happy to answer your questions for you.

When you place an order through our website, the information you provide gets forwarded to the tour operator so they can create a reservation for you. Even though it’s the tour operator, not us, that officially creates the reservation in their own booking system, it’s important that the information you supply with the discount order placed through our website be the same information that you want for your reservation because that’s the information that the tour operator will use to create their booking. The reservation itself is no different than a reservation that you would make directly through the tour operator; the only difference is, by placing the order for a discount through our website, when the reservation-related information gets forwarded to the tour operator, the tour operator will create a reservation in their system for the discounted amount as opposed to the original amount.

Also to confirm, since tour operators create bookings in their own systems after they receive orders from our website, there’s no need for you to book directly through their websites. (Doing do would create a duplicate reservation.) The bookings that the tour operators create are official bookings and come with confirmation documents (we call them “discount vouchers”).

          Pura vida! 🙂

            Thank you for the clarification!

So when we checkout on your website, we will pay the discounted tour price at that time, and you forward our information and that money to the tour company?

              Hi Julia!

Thanks so much for checking in about this! All tour-related money is paid directly to the tour operator, not to us. (We simply provide the discount; the tour operator handles the payment.) Our website’s checkout system isn’t designed to accept payment information like credit card information (we don’t require this information, so to protect travelers’ privacy, we never ask for it), so you won’t enter this information during the checkout step. All the checkout step does is submit an order for discounts to us via our website. After a) the order comes in, b) the information gets forwarded to the tour operator, c) the tour operator creates a booking in their own system, and d) the tour operator confirms that they’re holding the tour spaces for you, you’ll receive payment instructions that outline how to pay the tour operator directly for the tour. (Most tour operators collect payment online.) For more information about the process, you may find the step-by-step breakdown of our operation described on our How Pura Vida! eh? Works page to be helpful. 🙂

              Pura vida!
