I have found three tours that i have in my cart but before purchasing i want to get some quick advice. i purchased membership for 4 tours – family of 4 (2 adults, 10 yr girl, 8 yr girl). we are staying at the J.W. Marriott Guanacaste. Tours i selected are two days apart to give us a break in between. i’m looking for your input on if these are the best options to select and a recommendation of what else I should be considering. In addition, how flexible are the tours to move from one day to another if need be? i don’t anticipate changes, but just wanted to get a sense.

Rio Celeste & Tenoria Volcano National Park Tour
        Vandara Day Pass
Arenal Highlights tour – bridges, volcano, waterfall

Thanks in advance and really appreciate all the work you have done to put together your blog. lots of beautiful memories you have captured and hoping to do the same!

          Hey Geeta!

Thanks so much for your very kind comments! I have no doubt your family will make incredible, beautiful memories too. 🙂

You’ve selected some really great options. The Vandara Pass and the Arenal Highlights Tour combine several elements, so you’ll get a variety of experiences out of both of those. The Rio Celeste Tour is a good option if you want to see Rio Celeste and its namesake waterfall, and/or if you like to hike. So far, you’ve got hiking, hanging bridges, the Arenal Volcano, Rio Celeste, waterfalls, zip-lining, horseback riding, and mud bath/hot springs covered, which is a lot! There are a few other activities I could recommend, but most operate from the La Fortuna/Arenal area, which you’ll already be touring during the Arenal Highlights Tour. I’m not sure if you have an interest in visiting that area twice, or planning a 2-day trip to the Arenal area, which would require you to spend a night someplace in Arenal and away from the JW Marriott.

As far as date changes go, most tour operators are very flexible and will allow date changes whenever availability permits and provided the changes aren’t made last-minute. (Change requests within a day or two of the tour date may be tough to accommodate if arrangements have already been made for your group; for example, if food or entrance fees have already been purchased.) Availability can be tough to come by at certain times of the year (I’m not sure when you plan to travel), so it may not be possible to make a date change if there isn’t space for your group on the new date that you’re looking at, but provided space is available, most tour operators will accept the change without issue.

          Pura vida! 🙂

            Hi Nikki,

I have been responding via email but I dont see it posted here so not sure if you have been receiving. I was so bummed to read your email. I didnt realize this and was hoping it was a reasonable distance. You are correct, in this case, it absolutely changes all of my plans because we dont have the option to cancel the JW at this point.

One question, two of the excursions i selected were ‘from guanacaste’ tab – are those still not close – i think it said playa hermosa for those 2. Can we still use your services to book those two if transportation is included or that is not the case?

if all of these are out of the question, then yes please do submit a refund (and thank you for offering as such)

            Geeta

              Good morning Geeta!

I’m sorry for taking a day to respond to your comment! I was away from my desk yesterday but am back at it this morning. 🙂

I sent an email last week about the Guanacaste tours and the refund options (two options, depending on how you’d like to proceed with the tour discounts), but I also just re-sent it in case it was missed the first time or ended up in a junk/trash folder. If something happens that you didn’t receive it again, would you please report back here so I can try to get it to you in a different way?

              Thank you! 🙂

Hi Nikki , Hope everything is well . This is our first time traveling to to costa rica and i have no idea of things to go and do in costa rica .im traveling with my wife and my two boys ages 23 nd 21 years old. I encountered your site upon searching for discounted tickets and tours(honestly, im scared of the scammed on website). and really interest me how you put everything together . Anyways . Do i have to become a member first in order to purchase the discounted tickets?? we were thinking of Guachipelin adventure which include zip lining ,tubing , horse riding and hot spring . DO i have to purchase the tour or just purchase the entrance? or can you suggest or similar tour ?? We only have 7 days and we are thinking to go la fortuna , monteverde , tamarino and manuel antonio . can you amke suggestion ??

                Few question
1)how do the purchase to tickets works.
                2) my two sons ? are they considered as students( they could bring their id)
3)Do i have to be a member in order to purchase and how much to become one.

Sorry for all the questions . waiting for your reply

                regards
                alex

                  Hey Alex!

No need to apologize! I’m happy to answer your question for you. 🙂

                  1. For an explanation of our operation, please see our How Pura Vida! eh? Works page.

                  2. Re: Student discounts. This depends on the age of your sons, and the student policy of the tour operator who runs the tour you’re interested in experiencing. Since you mentioned you’re interested in Hacienda Guachipelin’s one-day adventure tour, Hacienda Guachipelin’s policy outlines that the student rate for their tours applies to individuals between the ages of 13 and 17 years. In this case, since your boys are 21 and 23 years old, they would not qualify for the student discount for Hacienda Guachipelin’s tour. Instead, they would qualify for the adult discount for Hacienda Guachipelin’s tour.

                  3. Yes, you must be a member of Pura Vida! eh? in order to access a Pura Vida! eh? discount. Information about how to join (and pricing, which depends on the number of tour discounts you wish to access and the number of people in your travel group) can be found on our Join Us page.

                  Pura vida! 🙂
