KeymasterGood morning Natalia!
Great question! Sky Adventures’s lunch is a typical Costa Rican casado (a rice and beans dish) with either beef, chicken, fish, or vegetables (your choice the day of the tour). It also includes a natural fruit drink and the dessert of the day. As for when it’s served, this depends on the tour time you select. I did catch on your order request that you wanted to do the tour at 8:00am; usually, with this tour time, the lunch is enjoyed at the end of the tour. Sometimes though, with advance notice and assuming there’s availability, the lunch can be enjoyed in between the Sky Trek/Sky Tram tour and the Sky Walk tour.
For some general information about Costa Rican casado, don’t miss this page on our blog: https://costaricatravelblog.com/casado-in-costa-rica/

KeymasterHello again Kara!
Absolutely! The Pacuare River Rafting Tour provider can provide transportation (either round-trip or a combination of two destinations) between San Jose, Alajuela, La Fortuna, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Cahuita, Limon, Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, and Siquirres. Transportation is complimentary provided you stay at a hotel (or hotels) within the tour operator’s normal pick-up/drop-off range, which is typically a town’s downtown center (hotels on the outskirts of towns typically don’t qualify for complimentary transportation).
In La Fortuna, Tabacon qualifies for the tour operator’s complimentary transportation, so a drop-off there is certainly possible. In Alajuela (where the SJO Airport is located), hotels in the city’s downtown core (such as Arenal Backpackers, Alajuela City Hotel & Guesthouse, etc.), the SJO Airport, and hotels across the street from the airport (e.g., the Holiday Inn and the Hampton Inn) qualify for the tour operator’s complimentary transportation, so a pick-up at hotels in these areas is possible. If you happen to choose a hotel outside of these areas (i.e., on the outskirts of downtown Alajuela), the pick-up is still possible but the tour operator will charge extra in this case.
Regarding the minimum age limit for the Pacuare River rafting tour, what’s most important are your daughter’s measurements, specifically her height and weight as these details will determine whether she’ll be able to safely fit one of the lifejackets that the tour operator has. Similar to our answer to your question about the Lost Canyon Canyoning Tour age limit (posted elsewhere in our forum), when the rafting tour is requested, you’ll likely be asked to provide your daughter’s measurements so the tour operator can have this information in advance. Even if you opt to request the tour now (i.e., nearly a year in advance), it would probably be best to wait until closer to your travel dates to provide the tour operator with the exact measurements, though, since they will likely change over the next year (these can be provided at a later date). What will likely happen in this case is that a request for the tour made now will be processed now (so you can obtain the discount) but will technically remain in “standby mode” until next year when the measurements can be confirmed.

KeymasterHey Sabira!
Thanks so much for your questions! We currently offer discounts for Costa Rica day tours only so unfortunately we can’t help with a discount for the 2-day (i.e. overnight) rafting trip. For the Manuel Antonio National Park, this park doesn’t allow overnight stays/guests, so it would be best to plan your visit as a day trip. The public part of the park isn’t all that large; most people come for a few hours to hike the trails or relax on the park’s beaches. If you want to visit the park over the course of two days, though, you certainly can–you’d just need to pay the entrance fee twice (once per day) in this case. 🙂

KeymasterHey Chris! 🙂
We like Sky Adventures’s Sky Trek Canopy Tour, mainly because it includes a complimentary aerial tram ride (called the Sky Tram) and uses a handlebar braking system (as opposed to a hand braking system). We also like Ecoglide’s Canopy Tour, but typically only suggest that tour for families with younger children who want a tamer ziplining experience. We have discounts for both tours.
As a side note, the only ziplining tour discount we will be able to provide to your family (given your travel dates) would be the discount for Sky Adventures’s Sky Trek Canopy Tour. Our discount for Ecoglide’s Canopy Tour absolutely requires discount requests to be sent in a minimum of 10 days prior to the tour date, and since you mentioned you’ll be arriving on July 12th for 3 nights, unfortunately, the 12th, 13th, and 14th all fall within the 10-day window of today’s date. Sky Adventures typically processes our requests quickly, so even though we’re within the 10-day window now, if you decide to go with this tour option and submit the order for the discount through our website before the day’s end, we can work to obtain that discount for you for use on either the 12th, 13th, or 14th according to your preference.
For easy reference, here are links to our adult and student discounts for the Arenal Sky Trek Canopy Tour:

KeymasterHi Kara!
Thanks so much for checking in with your questions! 🙂
For the canyoning tour, the tour operator’s minimum age limit is more of a general guideline. What’s most important are your daughter’s measurements, specifically her height, weight, and waist measurements, as these details will determine whether she’ll be able to safely fit one of the harnesses that the tour operator has.
Whenever the tour is requested, you’ll likely be asked to provide your daughter’s measurements so the tour operator can have this information in advance.
In addition, as a heads up, the tour operator may also ask you to sign a special waiver for your daughter since she’s under their minimum age limit. If they do ask for this, it would be handled the day of the tour.

KeymasterHey Chris!
For tour transportation to/from Tabacon, this hotel does fall within Sky Adventures’s normal pick-up/drop-off zone in La Fortuna. This being said, Sky Adventures is a tour operator that does not automatically include round-trip transportation to/from any hotels with any of their tours, so they will apply a transportation fee on top of the tour rate if you’d like to have them provide a hotel pick-up/drop-off service. (Some tour operators in Costa Rica automatically include round-trip transportation in their rates and others do not; our related blog post https://costaricatravelblog.com/costa-rica-tour-transportation-hotel-pick-ups-drop-offs/ offers more information about this if you’re interested in further reading.) Sky Adventures’s transportation fees vary by hotel, but since Tabacon falls within Sky Adventures’s normal transportation zone, their regular, flat-rate, round-trip transportation cost of $17 per person to/from La Fortuna hotels applies. (You’ll see this fee presented as the optional “Transportation Option” on tour listing pages on our website for Sky Adventures’s tours; when the option is selected, Sky Adventures’s round-trip transportation fee will be added to your order.)

KeymasterHello Suanne!
This quick note is simply to confirm that I just emailed you re: your request. I’ve sent about 4 emails to you in total (one a few days ago and the rest today) but I’m not sure if they’re reaching you properly. Sometimes our messages end up in junk mail folders, so if my messages aren’t in your inbox they may be sitting in the junk mail bin instead.

KeymasterHello Annie!
I apologize for the delay in getting back to you! Desafio Adventure Company (the tour operator) changed the minimum age limit for their Tenorio River Rafting Tour to 13 years, so I wanted to wait to respond until after this change had been confirmed so I could update you on it as well. Desafio responded to us today, so I can now respond to you! 🙂 (Note that Desafio’s website doesn’t yet reflect the change; it still reads as if the minimum age limit for the tour is 8 years.)
To answer your question about the Tenorio River Rafting Tour, the same link would be used for everyone in your family group. There isn’t a child discount for this specific tour because the minimum age prevents children 0-12 years from participating. The tour operator charges older children (age 13-17) as adults, so our adult discount would apply to them as well.
I’m not sure of the ages of the children in your travel group, but if you have children under the age of 13 who aren’t able to experience the rafting tour, your group could experience the Tenorio River Safari Float Tour instead, if that option interests you at all. Like the Tenorio River Rafting Tour, the cost of the Tenorio River Safari Float Tour is slightly more expensive when the tour is taken from La Fortuna to Papagayo, but it is an option if you want to experience a tour in between the two destinations.

KeymasterHi Niki!
No problem at all! Thanks so much for your interest and preference. 🙂
Exactly! We’ll provide more specific instructions in an email once the discount request is processed, but for now, you can do just that: order the discount for the tour from La Fortuna if that’s where you’d like to be picked up by the tour operator, then mention in the comments section that you’d like the tour operator to drop you off in San Jose.

KeymasterHi Niki!
Certainly! Transportation is complimentary provided you stay at a hotel (or hotels) within the tour operator’s normal pick-up/drop-off zone, which is typically a town’s downtown center (hotels on the outskirts of towns typically don’t qualify for complimentary transportation). If you choose to stay at hotels (vacation home rentals and Airbnbs don’t count) in downtown Puerto Viejo de Talamanca and downtown San Jose, transportation should be free. If you decide to stay at hotels outside of town centers, you can still experience the rafting tour but the tour operator will likely charge an extra transportation fee to offer a pick-up and drop-off service at the hotels.

KeymasterHello Suanne!
Thanks so much for reaching out and for your interest in our discounts. 🙂
Normally, we wouldn’t be able to accept an order today for discounts for July 8th since that date is 9 days away from now (we typically require all orders to be placed a minimum of 10 days in advance of any tour date), but if you’re able to place an order through our website before midnight tonight, I can put a rush on processing it for you asap. Please note that when you go to place an order for a discount through our website and you’re prompted to select the tour date, you’ll only be able to select a tour date of July 9th or later because our website doesn’t allow discounts to be ordered within the 10-day window. In this case, simply choose the date of July 9th, then specify in the notes section on the checkout page that you’d actually like to experience the tour on July 8th and we’ll update the date for you on our end.
Do you yet know which discount(s) you’d like for your trip? If not, you can browse through all of our discounts in our Discount Database here: https://puravidaeh.ca/discount-database/

KeymasterGood morning Karen!
Thank you so much for getting back to us! We would love to be able to help, but unfortunately, according to the tour operator’s payment policy, the booking window is already closed. Of course, if there are any other discounts you’d like to secure for future travel dates, don’t hesitate to reach out to us again as we’d love to obtain those for you! 🙂

KeymasterHello Karen!
No problem at all! We’re happy to help. 🙂
Sky Adventures’s payment policy is that they require tours to be prepaid no sooner than 3 days before the tour date. So, if you opt to go with the tour on June 30th and you submit the discount order through our website right away (within the next hour or two), we can put a rush on things to get it processed for you today in order to meet the deadline of midnight tonight.
Until soon!
