KeymasterGood morning Alicia and Michael!
I apologize for taking a day to get back to you! I was away from my desk yesterday, but am back at the computer now and getting caught up on emails.
Thank you so much for your interest in our discounts! unfortunately, I don’t think we will be able to be much help. 🙁 Our normal discount for the horseback riding tour to the La Fortuna Waterfall is currently unavailable, and for the canoeing tour, we won’t be able to help with this item either because a member of your travel group already explained to us that he (or someone from your group) has communicated with your lodge about that tour. I had explained to him that although Costa Rica’s tourism industry is competitive, we aim to work together with our competitors, so we don’t accept discount orders for items that have previously been discussed with other companies, simply to avoid stepping on any toes. So in this particular case, since your group has already been in touch with your lodge about the canoe tour, it would be best to give them your business for that tour, to be fair.
Of course, we truly appreciate you thinking about us, and we wish you an increible trip! 🙂

Thank you so much for your order! I can confirm that we received it and have already begun processing it (you should have received an email from our online messaging system that confirmed that). We’ll be in touch again soon with additional information. 🙂

KeymasterGood morning Joseph!
No problem at all! I’m happy to help. 🙂
For the canoeing tour that you’re considering, since you mentioned that you’ve already been in touch with the Arenal Observatory Lodge directly, would you mind making your request for that activity directly through the lodge? Though Costa Rica’s tourism industry is competitive, we aim to work together with our competitors, so we don’t accept discount orders for items that have previously been discussed with other companies, simply to avoid stepping on any toes. If you’ve been in touch with the lodge about a canoe tour that they offer, it would be best to give them your business for that tour, to be fair. Since you mentioned that you’ve talked to them about our discounts, I’d like to kindly ask you to let the lodge know that we’ve advised you to book the canoe tour through them. I’d hate for them to think that we were trying to steal you away and/or scoop up your business if you were in contact with them first. 🙂
Thank you so much for your understanding!!!

KeymasterHi Joseph!
No problem! I can certainly sort this out for you. 🙂
Unfortunately, your shopping cart is unique to your computer, so we’re not able to see what’s in it. When you say the cart is inaccurate, what items are currently in it? To confirm, you can remove items from your cart at any time by visiting the cart page (https://puravidaeh.ca/cart-2/) and clicking on the blue circle with the white X in it, just to the left of the discount listing’s photo. Clicking on that X will delete the item from your cart, so if you need to clear everything out and start over, clicking on those Xs will do the trick.
For requesting the discounts, keep in mind that the adult, student, and child discounts are split across three pages (see the three links provided in my first response above for links to each). So, in order to request discounts for your group of 6 people, you should visit the adult discount page and request the quantity to be “4”, then visit the student page and request the quantity to be “1”, and lastly, visit the child discount page and request the quantity to be “1”. That will add three separate items (adult discounts, a student discount, and a child discount) to your shopping cart, even though all three discounts are for the same tour. The total price you see on the cart page will then reflect the total discounted rate for your group of 4 adults, 1 student, and 1 child.
Let me know if I can help in any other way! 🙂

KeymasterHi Joseph!
Great questions! I’m happy to answer them for you. 🙂
Re: the membership level you’ll need. To start, this decision should be based on the number of discounts you’d like to request now (i.e., in advance), not how many you might need later. If you’d like to add (or remove) people at a later time, we can easily upgrade or downgrade the level you have to the level you need then–no problem there.
According to your example, you’d actually need a custom membership which would have a total cost of $24.98. Here’s a breakdown of that total:
4 people are interested in the discount for the Sky Trek, Sky Walk, and Sky Tram Combo right now, so you’d need a level 2 membership worth $14.99 (good for one discount for 4-5 people) to access it.
2 people (child and grandparent) are interested in the discount for the Sky Walk and Sky Tram Combo right now, so you’d need a level 1 membership worth $9.99 (good for one discount for 1-3 people) to access it.
We can create custom memberships for irregular arrangements like yours, so in this case, we’d create one that costs $24.98 so you can access both discounts–one for 4 people and one for 2 people.
With respect to potentially adding the child and/or the grandparent to the Sky Trek, Sky Walk, and Sky Tram Combo if either or both decide to go zip-lining after time spent at Hacienda Guachipelin (which is a fabulous spot, by the way–great pick!), that last-minute change will be subject to the tour operator’s availability (i.e., whether they have an extra spot or two to spare at the time you request the change). If there isn’t availability to add the child and/or grandparent, then the original plan for the tours would remain intact. If the tour operator can offer availability, though, then this is what would happen to the membership levels:
If one of the two people (the child or the grandparent) decides to go zip-lining: There would be no change to the membership levels. This is because you would have already purchased access to one tour discount for 4-5 people and one tour discount for 1-3 people, so bumping one person between membership levels wouldn’t make a difference.
If both (the child and the grandparent) want to go zip-lining: You’d need a level 3 membership (good for one tour discount for 6-8 people) in this case. A level 3 membership costs $19.99, so if this change was made (and assuming you paid $24.98 for the custom membership originally), we’d refund you the difference in cost, which would be $4.99.
Hopefully, the above makes sense, but if you’d like further clarification just let me know! 🙂 With respect to a timeline for orders, we require a minimum of 10 days’ notice to process any order for discounts. That said, we recommend submitting orders as soon as you’ve decided on your tour plan to maximize your chances of securing tour availability. Lastly, we don’t have a discount for the Bogarin Trail at the moment, unfortunately.

KeymasterGood morning Joseph!
Thank you so much for your interest in our discount! 🙂
Whether or not you will experience the zip-lining tour or the hanging bridges tour first depends on which tour time you select, and the tour operator’s availability for that tour time. I just checked with Sky Adventures, and they currently have availability for the 8:00am, 10:30am, and 11:30am tour times on 11/23 and 11/24. Any of these tour times will allow you to do the zip-lining tour first.
Re: your youngest step-grandchild’s age, what’s most important is the age she will be on the day you participate in the tour (in case Sky Adventures requests to see identification upon your arrival at their facilities). If she will be 12 on that day, she qualifies for the child discount. If she will be 13 on that day, she won’t qualify for the child discount but she also won’t need to pay the adult price because Sky Adventures provides student discounts for which we also have discounts. (The student rate applies to individuals who are 13-24 years of age). For your convenience, here are links to our adult, student, and child discounts for the tour:

KeymasterHi Brisa!
Yes! 🙂 The discounts are presented per person. If you’re interested in seeing what the total amount would be for more than one person, you can add a discount to your shopping cart (on the tour’s listing page, be sure to select the quantity you want, which should reflect the number of people in your group), and then visit the shopping cart page (https://puravidaeh.ca/cart-2/). The shopping cart page will show you the total amount according to the quantity you selected (i.e., the total number of people in your group).

KeymasterHi Emma!
Thanks so much for your interest in our discounts! 🙂
At the moment, we don’t have a discount for any 2-day excursions, only day tours.

KeymasterHey Antoine!
Thank you so much for your interest in our discounts! We do have a discount for the Sky Walk Hanging Bridges in Monteverde, but unfortunately, due to tour operator policies and demand for our discounts, we can only process orders made a minimum of 10 days prior to the desired tour date. Since you mentioned you’re looking to use the discount for today or tomorrow (or within the next 4 days), unfortunately, we won’t be able to provide it in this case. 🙁
Thank you again, though, for considering us!

KeymasterHey JB!
Great questions! 🙂
For tours to/from El Silencio Lodge, since you mentioned you will have a rental car, I’d recommend driving yourselves. Transportation fees to/from El Silencio Lodge tend to be hefty; Canoa Aventura (the combo tour operator) in particular charges $156 each way (this cost would be for the two of you, not per person), so if you opted to have them pick you up and drop you off at El Silencio Lodge, you’d pay them $312 just in transport fees, which would be added to the cost of the tour.
As for our discounts, that’s correct! If there are two people in your group who would like to access one of our discounts (i.e., our discount for the combo tour), you’d need to order that discount and indicate “2” in the quantity field on the tour’s listing page.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Pura vida! 🙂

KeymasterHey LizanoLovingLassie!
You’re right! These two combo tours are very similar. We opt to provide discounts for both because they offer slightly different itineraries, and travelers may prefer one over the other:
Canoa Aventura’s tour visits the Mistico Park first (to tour the hanging bridges), then heads to the La Fortuna Waterfall. After lunch, the volcano hike is completed at the 1968 trail.
Desafio Adventure Company’s tour also visits the Mistico Park first (to tour the hanging bridges), but then they head to the 1968 trail for the volcano hike. After lunch, the visit to the La Fortuna Waterfall is completed.
In terms of inclusions/amenities, both companies include all entrance fees and lunch in their combo tour rate, and also offer great guides. Transportation to/from Silencio del Campo is complimentary with either tour.

KeymasterHi LizanoLovingLassie!
Great name, by the way! 😉
Feel free to do whatever is best for you. If there are discounts you’d like to secure now, you can go ahead and place an order for them now (i.e., you can add those discounts to your cart and checkout). You’re welcome to save the rest of the discounts for later, just make sure you remove them from your cart so they don’t get submitted with the first order of discounts you’d like to secure now. Keep in mind that we require a minimum of 10 days’ notice for all discount requests, so if you opt to save some discounts for later, just make sure you submit an order (or orders) for them prior to 10 days before the requested tour date(s) included with that order.
Pura vida! 🙂

KeymasterHi Lisa!
Thank you so much for your interest in our discounts! 🙂
We do have discounts for that tour! Our discounted rates for it are $48.75/adult and $41.25/child age 4-12 years. Please note that the tour rates (both the original tour operator’s rates as well as our discounted rates) exclude the entrance fee to the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, so that fee will need to be paid to the park upon arrival at the park.
If you decide that you’d like to obtain the discount for this tour, just let us know and we can add it to our Discount Database so it’s available for you to officially order online.

KeymasterHey Marie!
Thank you so much for your interest in our rafting discounts!
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to provide a discount for a rafting tour on October 31st as this date falls within the next 10 days and we’re not normally able to accept discount requests within 10 days prior to any tour date. For a discount for November 7th, though, we can make this work if the order for the discount is officially placed tonight or tomorrow. 🙂

KeymasterHey Miroda!
Thank you so much for your interest! 🙂
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to help with a discount for a rafting tour on November 6th as this date falls within the next 10 days and we’re not able to accept discount requests within 10 days prior to any tour date. 🙁 This being said, I’d check in with Exploradores Outdoors (www.exploradoresoutdoors.com). They run rafting tours on the Pacuare River almost daily and will likely have a tour running on the 6th that they can book for you. They pick up from most hotels within the immediate downtown San Jose core.
Pura vida! 🙂
