Both members and non-members can add discounts to a shopping cart on our website, the difference/advantage for members is that they’re able to access our website’s private checkout page, where an official order can be placed to secure the discounts that are in the shopping cart (non-members aren’t able to complete this step).

I can see in our system that you followed the checkout process and were able to submit an official order for two discounts, which is great. We’ve begun processing that order, and you should have received an email from our online messaging system a little while ago to confirm that. To confirm, the Arenal Springs Resort is considered a “La Fortuna hotel” and Hotel Poco a Poco is considered a “Monteverde hotel” so for tour operators that include round-trip transportation in their costs, transportation to/from these two properties would be free. That being said, Sky Adventures is a tour operator that does not automatically include round-trip transportation to/from any hotels with any of their tours, so transportation to/from both of your hotels would cost extra if you opted to experience any of their activities. Sky Adventures charges $17+tax/person in La Fortuna/Arenal and $10+tax/person in Monteverde for the round-trip transfer service. (You’ll see the extra transportation charge noted as the “Transportation Option” on the tour’s listing page on our site.) If you’ll have a rental car and would prefer to drive yourselves to Sky Adventures’s Arenal Park and/or Monteverde Park (or, if you would prefer to take a taxi or arrange other transportation between the park and your hotels), you certainly can. Sky Adventures’s transportation fee is entirely optional. If you decide to drive, both parks have large parking lots and free parking.

In this particular combo, the Balsa River Rafting Tour is the tour that’s performed the furthest from La Fortuna; the river is about a 35-minute drive from town. In contrast, where the Canyoning Tour is performed is about a 20-minute drive from town.

As for extreme tours, the combined canyoning and rafting tour is a ton of fun, but for “extreme” experiences, you may want to consider upgrading your rafting tour experience from a class 2/3 river (the Balsa River) to a class 3/4 river (such as the class 3/4 section of the Sarapiqui River or the Pacuare River). The higher river class will provide you with bigger (i.e., more extreme) rapids. The only problem with this upgrade is that most class 3/4 river trips are full-day trips, so you’d need to do the canyoning tour on a separate day. (Canyoning is a half-day experience).

For identifying other “extreme” tours, you can sort the various discounts in our discount database by “extreme adrenaline” (https://puravidaeh.ca/product-tag/extreme-adrenaline/). The results page shows all matching tours regardless of where they take place in the country, but you can easily identify which are La Fortuna tours by simply reading the tour’s title (look for “From La Fortuna” in the tour’s title).

No problem! I preapproved the full refund on my end the other day when the order was canceled, and it has officially been submitted to PayPal for processing. PayPal is showing the estimated fund delivery time to be 2:00pm EST/EDT on April 7th, so you should receive the funds from them then, and they typically send out their own emails regarding transactions, so you should receive a separate email from them confirming the refund when they finalize it. 🙂
