      Hello Kamila!

Thank you so much for your interest in our forum and for your kind comments! I’m happy to answer your questions for you, but can I ask you for a favor? Would you mind re-posting your question above in the Questions and Answers forum on our DIY Costa Rica site? That is the forum where we answer general questions about Costa Rica travel. This forum, on our Pura Vida! eh? business website, is specific to Costa Rica tours/activities and our related tour/activity discounts.

      Thank you so much! 🙂

        Hi Gregory!

Thanks so much for checking in about this!

You’re correct: Discount Level 3 is what you’d need in that case. Also, to confirm, Sky Adventures’s Sky Trek Canopy Tour is a zip-lining tour. 🙂

          Hey Andres!

This quick message is simply to check in with you to see if you received the account registration email? It gets sent out automatically following PayPal payment, but it often ends up in junk mail folders. Sometimes email providers block the message entirely if they don’t recognize us as a sender. After I received your forum comment (above) yesterday, I re-sent the registration link, but we haven’t yet received notification that you’ve registered your account. Were you able to receive either of the two registration emails? They may be in your junk mail or trash bin folders. Someone once told us that Gmail auto-filed it into their “Promotions” folder. I’m not sure what that is because I don’t use Gmail, but you could also try looking there.

          Until soon! 🙂

            Hi Judit!

I’m happy to answer your questions. 🙂

            1. Monteverde is a small, traditionally quiet town. It doesn’t have an active nightlife, and I’m not currently aware of any parties or events going on for New Years Eve. My guess is that this year, like most years, the destination will be relatively quiet.

            2. We don’t have a cancelation policy of our own, we simply enforce the cancelation policies of the individual tour operators. So, the cancelation policies that will apply will depend on the exact tours you want to experience, and which tour operators run those tours. For example, if you’re thinking about using one of our discounts for a canopy tour, the canopy tour operator’s cancelation policy will apply.

            3. Correct! We don’t currently have discounts in stock for the specific activities you list. (We have more than 250 discounts, though, for other items!) At this time of year, while we transition between the end of the 2022 season and the beginning of the 2023 season, we’re in the process of renegotiating some of our discounts, so an above average number are currently out of stock.

              Hi Marketa!

This quick message is simply to confirm that I sent you a private email a few hours ago with respect to your request. I thought I’d comment about it here in the forum, too, in case my previous email ended up in your junk mail folder. Hopefully, you received it!

                Hi again Katybee!

Thanks so much for reporting back! I just tried sending you a message from my personal email account, as opposed to our online messaging system (from which the first email was sent). Hopefully, that email reached you okay!

                  Hey Katybee!

No problem at all! To confirm, I sent you a private email containing a temporary password that will let you into your account, so you can officially checkout. As a heads up, that email may have gone straight to your junk mail folder.

                    Hi Isac!

Great question! 🙂 One question for you, in return, for clarity: Is the person who wants to go rafting one of the two people who want to go canyoning? Or, does your group consist of three people, two of whom want to go canyoning and one who wants to go rafting?

                    If it’s the latter…

It’s certainly possible for two people to experience rafting while one other person rafts.

                    If it’s the former…

It isn’t possible to participate in two separate, individual canyoning and rafting tours on the same day (i.e., a canyoning tour and a rafting tour with a return to your hotel and free time in between each activity), but this joint experience is possible if you sign up for the mambo combo tour. (With the mambo combo tour, which combines rafting and canyoning provided by the same tour operator, you’ll participate in one activity right after the other, so it’s essentially one booked tour that provides two tour experiences.) Fortunately, the mambo combo tour operator also runs individual canyoning tours, so it is possible for one person to do the mambo combo tour and the other person to do the canyoning tour only.

With this option, the person who only wants to go canyoning (and not rafting) will need to sign up for the 7am canyoning tour. This is because the mambo combo tour also begins at 7am, and the canyoning experience that’s part of the mambo combo tour is had before the rafting experience. So, with this arrangement, both of you will experience the canyoning activity at 7am, and when the tour wraps up, the person who did not sign up for the mambo combo tour will return to their hotel, while the person who did sign up for the mambo combo tour will go rafting.

                      Hi Preeti!

Thanks so much for inquiring about this. Unfortunately, no passes to the Springs Resort (or its on-site adventure center, Club Rio) will be available on those dates. 🙁 This isn’t an availability issue, rather, a resort blackout issue. The resort has decided to close to public visitors, remaining open to overnight guests of the Springs Resort only, between December 16th and January 7th. This means that passes aren’t possible (through us, another company, or the resort directly, unless you opt to stay overnight at the resort) for a visit on December 28th or 29th.

I’m so sorry to be the bearer of bad news here! Please let us know if there are other discounts we can help you with.

                        Hi Jeff!

Thanks so much for your message and for checking in! 🙂

Yes, we are an active business. We’re in our 15th year of operation, and still going strong!

You’re right in that we’re not very active on social media. We run this business and maintain its forum, we write for and manage the Costa Rica Travel Blog, we operate and maintain a forum over at DIY Costa Rica (we also built the Costa Rica Destination Tool for that site), we produce the Costa Rica Trip Planning 101 e-course, and we author and continue to update two full Costa Rica guidebooks for Moon Travel Guides: Moon Costa Rica (a countrywide guide) and Moon Best of Costa Rica (a highlights guide). These projects keep us incredibly busy, so we admit, we don’t have much time to contribute to social media marketing. Most of our free time is spent traveling around the country or conducting research for the various projects on our plate to keep them as current as possible. 🙂

                          Hi Becca!

Thanks so much for your patience with us! Because you inquired about a date during the 2023 season, we had to wait for the Springs Resort to confirm the tour times for each activity next year, in case they changed from this year. Fortunately, the resort has responded and provided this information to us, so I can now let you know that the following will be the possible tour times for the river tubing and wildlife sanctuary tours during the 2023 season:

River tubing: 10:45 am, 12:45 pm, 1:45 pm
                          Wildlife sanctuary: 8:45am, 9:45am, 10:45am, 12:45pm, 1:45pm, 2:45pm

Each tour usually starts 15 minutes after the above-posted times and takes roughly one hour. So, if you aren’t able to arrive at the Springs Resort until 11:30am, provided there’s availability for this arrangement, you could take the 12:45pm tubing tour and the 2:45pm wildlife tour.

                              Hi Michael!

Sure thing! Currently, both of those discounts are in stock.

When an order is placed, the requests are forwarded to the tour operator. The amount of time it takes a tour operator to respond to a request varies across tour operators. All tour operators process requests on a first in, first out basis, so once your order is placed, the request(s) included on it enter the queue. Sky Adventures is usually quite quick; they tend to respond within a day or two of a request being sent in. The Springs Resort can be slower to respond; we tend to receive responses from them within 1-4 days of the request being sent in.

                              Pura vida! 🙂

                                Hi Beverly!

Thank you so much for your kind comments! 🙂

I can certainly help. You’re absolutely correct in understanding that the Mistico Park does not allow children under the age of 10 to participate in their bird-watching tour. (The same minimum age policy applies to the Mistico Park’s night tour.) For this reason, on the bird-watching tour’s listing page on our website (here), you’ll see the following note in the “Description” section:

                                Minimum/maximum age/weight/height/other requirements
Children must be at least 10 years of age to participate in this tour.

Just under the discount price on the child discount page for the bird-watching tour (which you can find here), it says “Age group(s) that receive the child rate for this activity: 10 years.” This means that the discount applies only to children that are 10 years old.

According to the Mistico Park’s policies, student rates (which the park calls “teen” or “adolescent” rates) apply to individuals between the ages of 11 and 18. Because 10-year-olds are permitted to participate in the bird-watching tour, this leaves 10-year-olds as the only possible users of the child rates. In other words, children 0-9 are unable to participate, children age 10 pay the child rate, individuals 11-18 pay the student/teen/adolescent rate, and individuals who are older pay the adult rate. 🙂

                                  Hello Michael!

Great question! The resort decides from day to day (according to resort capacity) whether the meal included with the hot springs pass will be buffet or a la carte. With a la carte meals, a starter, a main course, and a dessert are served. Day pass meals are most often served at the Tres Cascadas Restaurant. Here’s some additional information (pulled from our related blog post Springs Resort Hot Springs Review) that may help answer your question and others:

DINING AT THE SPRINGS RESORT HOT SPRINGS
The Springs Resort & Spa has 5 on-site restaurants: the Tres Cascadas Restaurant (the resort’s main restaurant), the fine-dining Las Ventanas Restaurant, the Japanese-cuisine Ginger Sushi Restaurant, the poolside Treetops Grill (which is located at the Cascadas Calientes), and the Rancho Club Rio Restaurant (which most commonly serves Club Rio adventure tour participants). It also offers 5 on-site bars. Day pass holders who visit the Springs Resort Hot Springs are welcome to purchase food and drinks at the hotel’s on-site establishments. Lunch and dinner, when included with the hot springs pass, are served at the Tres Cascadas Restaurant, a beautiful, open-concept establishment that sometimes offers soft live music and impresses with a panoramic view of the Arenal Volcano. During peak periods, when the resort reaches its maximum capacity, diners may also be seated at the Ginger Sushi Restaurant.

As a side note, the dinners we have experienced at the Springs Resort & Spa have been some of the best meals we’ve eaten in Costa Rica. Both tasty and light, the appetizers (choice of soup or salad), main courses (choice of one entrée across five staple dishes; vegetarian option included), and desserts (tres leches cake or similar) were all top notch. Aim to sit down to dinner between 5:30pm and 6:00pm. Since it gets dark around 6:00pm in Costa Rica, dining at this time will not only reward you with a breathtaking view of the volcano at sunset, but you’ll also be able to experience the restaurant’s intimate evening atmosphere shortly after dark. Plan your dinner attire accordingly; swimwear is not permitted inside the restaurant.

                                  Pura vida! 🙂
