Hello!
My family of four is looking forward to visiting in August. My husband and two children are very eager to zipline but I am VERY SCARED of ziplining. Is there a way to go with them and walk back? So I can watch them, take the tram, etc.? Or should I just send them without me? -

Hi Leanne!
Unfortunately, most zip-line courses in Costa Rica follow routes that connect tall trees spread out across uneven (sometimes hilly/mountainous) terrain, so it isn’t possible to follow along on the ground. Similarly, most zip-line courses explore areas deep in the forest, so it usually isn’t possible for non-participants to watch tour participants while they complete the journey. 🙁
You mentioned the tram, which is a great point. At their Arenal (La Fortuna) and Monteverde parks, Sky Adventures (a zip-line tour operator) provides the Sky Tram Aerial Tram Ride, and it can be experienced either as part of their zip-line tour, which they call the Sky Trek Canopy Tour, or on its own as an aerial tram ride only. Riding the tram would be one way to potentially share an experience with your husband and two children. The three of them could participate in the Sky Trek Canopy Tour, which automatically includes the Sky Tram Aerial Tram Ride, and you could participate in the Sky Tram Aerial Tram Ride only. Although not always guaranteed, a specific request can be made to have all four of you ride the Sky Tram together, so if that request can be accommodated, you can at least share the tram ride portion of the Sky Trek Canopy Tour together.
Pura vida! 🙂
