We wrote the blog post linked to above specifically to answer questions like yours! With respect to La Pradera Del Arenal, in our experience, what they’re asking for is common. Back when we used to handle hotel reservations for travelers, our clients were asked to provide the same, and not just by La Pradera Del Arenal but by several hotels (tour operators and transportation service providers too). Most often, the information is requested so the Costa Rican hotel, tour operator, or transportation service provider can match the signature provided on your credit card and ID with the signature that you provided to authorize payment (or the signature you will provide, depending on when payment is due according to your specific reservation).
