For plans for visiting a surf town, Costa Rica has so many great ones to choose from! Jaco is one, of course, but if your only reason for choosing Jaco is its surf, it’s worth mentioning that several other beach towns offer this too. Tamarindo, Nosara, Santa Teresa, Dominical, and Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, which are all popular beach towns like Jaco, also have great surf, as do several other smaller beach communities that sit along the Pacific and Caribbean coasts.

I suppose the bigger questions to delve into would be questions that explore the kind of surf town you’d like to visit. For example, would you prefer a surf town of a decent size that offers several accommodations, restaurants, surf shops, and other things to do besides surfing? Or would you prefer a smaller beach town that has an off-the-beaten path, secluded feel? Would you prefer a surf town that supplies lively nightlife? Or would you prefer a quiet destination? Will you be traveling by yourself or with others? At what time of year do you plan to travel (this will help determine what the weather will be like when you visit, which will in turn determine road conditions and town accessibility). There are so many questions! 🙂
