  1. My family is staying at the Arenal lodge (200 Meters North from the Dam of the Arenal Lake). Is there extra cost to be picked up/dropped off there for the Balsa rafting tour by Desafio?
Would they be able to pick up from there and drop off at a Hostel in town?

    1. Cathleen Lencioni –

Great question! Unfortunately Arenal Lodge is not considered a “La Fortuna hotel” by tour operators given its distance from town, so for the Balsa River Rafting Tour described above, the tour operator will charge a pick-up fee to offer transportation from the hotel. For tours during the 2017 season, the cost for the pick-up at Arenal Lodge is $20/group. This fee is charged per way, so if you would prefer to be dropped off at a downtown La Fortuna location (such as at a downtown La Fortuna hostel, as you note), you will save yourselves the cost of the drop-off fee (i.e., the second charge, as the round-trip Arenal Lodge transportation cost would be $40/group).

      Pura vida! 🙂

The tour operator can secure your luggage for you at their La Fortuna office if you will be changing hotels during the day. 🙂

      Pura vida!

  2. Looking at Balsa River rafting to accomplish a transport from La Fortuna to Manuel Antonio as described in one of your articles. Does this excursion accomplish this?
