There are so many! 🙂 There are roughly 100 different accommodations in/around the La Fortuna area that it is tough to list them all, however as a rough estimate, typically accommodations (including hotels and hostels, but excluding rental properties) that are located in a) downtown La Fortuna, b) along the road that runs from downtown La Fortuna to the La Fortuna Waterfall, or c) along the road that runs from downtown La Fortuna around the Arenal Volcano towards Arenal Lake (as far as the Tabacon Resort) are eligible for complimentary tour transportation.

Have you yet decided where you plan to stay? If so, simply comment below with the name of your chosen accommodation and I can confirm whether transportation to/from your choice would be included with the tour. 🙂

      Pura vida!

Thanks so much for your inquiry! Fortunately the Volcano Lodge & Springs is considered a “La Fortuna hotel” by most tour operators, so I can confirm that transportation to/from the accommodation would be included with the tour described above. Also, if you haven’t yet spotted it already, there is a promotion for the Volcano Lodge & Springs listed in our “Costa Rica Promotions” database here: https://puravidaeh.ca/2017/01/02/volcano-lodge-springs-la-fortunaarenal/

      Pura vida! 🙂

Great question! Although the Arenal Combo Tour typically caters those who plan to stay directly in the La Fortuna/Arenal area (since the tour departs from and returns to that location), it can be experienced by travellers staying elsewhere, provided they are able to arrange their own transportation to/from the La Fortuna/Arenal region. Since the Arenal Combo Tour has an early morning start time (and since you mentioned you will be staying at the Pura Vida Spa, which is located in Alajuela and about a 3-hour drive from La Fortuna/Arenal), a mid-night transportation service would need to be arranged. Unfortunately local buses and shared shuttle services do not run throughout the night, however private transfer services do (taxis do as well, however hiring a private transfer service would be a safer option than hiring a taxi to drive you across the country in the middle of the night). For more information about private transfer services, you may find our related blog post on transportation options in Costa Rica helpful: Costa Rica Transportation: 10 Ways To Get From Point ‘A’ To Point ‘B’ Throughout Your Trip.

As long as you are able to hire a private transfer service who is willing to pick you up at the Pura Vida Spa by 4:30am (at the latest), you should be able to make it to the La Fortuna/Arenal region in enough time to catch the departure of the Arenal Combo Tour described above.

      Pura vida! 🙂

If you planned to visit La Fortuna/Arenal via Atenas (as opposed to Alajuela), and assuming you had the same plan in mind (i.e., to depart from Atenas in the very early morning in order to arrive into La Fortuna/Arenal in enough time to catch the Arenal Combo Tour), a private transfer service here too would be required.

      Pura vida! 🙂
